Is it possible to exercise during menstruation?

We don't have it easy, girls! A few days each month are 'extracted' from life. Often experienced in a not-so-great mood, accompanied by stomach pain, cravings, and three types of chocolate. And what about exercising during menstruation? Should we work out, or should those days be dedicated to lounging and resting?

The answer is simple - exercise! And without excuses, because physical activity during your period is beneficial for our bodies. Training can help cope with most negative, periodic pains.

Effort will help with tense abdominal muscles, thereby reducing cramps and lower abdominal pain. The same principle applies to the lower back, which tightens during menstruation and causes discomfort.

Additionally, nothing relieves anger and other negative emotions like a good workout!

It's worth remembering that a woman's body is really complicated, and not always, despite our best intentions, are we able to spread out the mat and start training. What are the contraindications?

First and foremost, very poor well-being. If the first days of your period are a real ordeal for you, you experience fainting, weakness, or you can't move freely - take a break. One day without training is not the end of the world!

The situation is similar when we have heavy bleeding. If you know that this is just your nature, and you have consulted the issue with a gynecologist - exercise, but avoid intense workouts. Intervals, jumps, or abdominal exercises may further intensify the bleeding.

Choose exercises according to how you feel. If you don't feel your best, opt for yoga, stretching, brisk walking, or low-intensity workouts. All these activities will relax your body and soothe periodic cramps.

If you feel good, you can go ahead and do your regular workout, and you'll see that already after warming up, your body will thank you for it.

During your period, you don't have to restrict yourself in any way. If you feel like doing cardio - do cardio. Strength training? No problem at all. Do everything you feel like doing! After all, your period is not an illness, but a normal physiological process that we have to live with, whether we like it or not.

How else can you alleviate these days?

Drink plenty of water. During your period, water accumulates in our bodies. That's why the scale shows 1.5-3 kg more, we have swollen legs or a bigger belly. Drinking water will help us get rid of the excess that has accumulated uninvited. Also, remember that salt and all salty products are not your allies.

Avoid foods that cause bloating. We say "see you in a few days!" to beans and other legumes. Also skip dark bread, large amounts of dairy, and some vegetables like broccoli.

Give yourself a break! 2 days without counting calories or lying in front of Netflix have never harmed anyone, so relax! Take a bath, do a workout, and treat yourself exceptionally!
