What should a good sports outfit be made of?

Sportswear has its own rules. Without a doubt, it must be comfortable, flexible, incredibly comfortable, and durable. However, even the most beautiful sports set created based on the most refined design in the world will not pass its exam without the most important thing - the right material. What should it be? And why is cotton not the best solution for the gym? You will find out in today's post!

You have certainly noticed that the vast majority of sportswear is made from synthetic materials such as polyamide, elastane, or polyester. It must be admitted that few materials are as demonized as they are. While in everyday wardrobe we actually try to avoid them, in sports we would do anything for them!

This is because this material is exceptionally practical and functional. Thanks to its properties, it performs well during all workouts, whether in fresh air, at the gym, or at home. Additionally, unlike knits and natural fabrics, polyamide or polyester do not absorb water. This is precisely why, even during the most intense workouts, when sweat is pouring down our forehead and neck, we do not feel moisture or cold.

On the other hand, when choosing a cotton sports set for training, we must expect that with the first drop of sweat, it will become heavier and heavier… Incredibly uncomfortable, and worse - it may even lead to painful chafing! However, cotton sportswear can be used during very low-intensity workouts, such as yoga or stretching.

You have surely noticed that elastane is often added to the materials from which gym clothes are sewn. It is thanks to this addition that Leggings or sports tops are so elastic, increasing their stretchability, perfectly fitting the body, and are just super comfortable. What is also extremely important - none of us wants a top or Leggings to lose their shape after a few wears and washes. Elastane is responsible for bringing them back to their original state - thanks to it, good sportswear maintains its shape without stretched elbows or knees for years! And besides... Believe me, without it, we would need a whole team of helpers to put on sports leggings.

A big plus of polyester sportswear is also the fact that they can be washed at higher temperatures and you can be sure that they will not change their shape or color, and that they dry at lightning speed. However, remember to check the manufacturer's labels carefully before the first wash and always follow those instructions. This way, you will be able to enjoy great products for longer. For our clothes, to maximize the lifespan, we recommend washing at 30 degrees.

In addition to polyester, the previously mentioned polyamide is invaluable in sportswear. It is as durable as polyester but definitely stiffer. That is why it is usually blended with other fibers to make the final design as comfortable to use as possible. An example can be our brand. At BeShaped, to achieve the highest quality products that are comfortable and give the feeling of a second skin, we used a special blend of polyester, polyamide (nylon), and elastane.

Polyester provided us with excellent product properties, and thanks to the addition of polyamide, we could achieve all those beautiful, intense colors that we have in our assortment, while elastane ensured that all of them are exceptionally elastic and pleasant to use. All to make your and our workouts pure pleasure!
