Regular exercise and mental health

This year, every day is (to put it mildly) exceptional. Staying at home and isolating ourselves from loved ones, coworkers, and friends does not have the best effect on our well-being and mental health. We lose motivation, the desire for self-realization, and working on our own figure. While we manage to cope with the 'classic autumn blues' without much problem, the combination with the pandemic, heightened loneliness, and often economic difficulties may make it worse. Is this combo really insurmountable? How to cope in the current situation? How to find motivation for exercise when it's gray and dull outside? And why, especially now, is it worth taking care of mental health?

Everything that surrounds us affects us more or less. The decor of our apartment, our clothing, makeup, the weather outside, interpersonal relationships, work, sleep, relaxation, sports... We will focus on physical activity because, after all, sports is health! In addition to the aspects of physical health, sports positively influence our well-being in many ways. It allows us to tire ourselves in a positive sense, relax, releases happiness hormones, allows us to 'forget' about worries and intrusive thoughts, but also brings real, physical changes in the brain. Physical activity has an excellent effect on our nervous system and brain. It increases blood flow, develops brain cells, and releases neurotransmitters responsible for improving mood, feelings of euphoria, and reducing pain. Regular exercise, through better oxygenation and increased blood flow, strengthens nerve cells.

Unload emotions

Remember how you feel during a few days of illness spent in bed, or during some unpleasant life situation. You feel lethargic, stressed, tired, and depressed. It is exactly the same when there is a lack of activity. All these factors can turn out to be activators of neurosis, depression, or concentration disorders. On the other hand, regular training effectively mitigates the development of many emotional disorders. After all, it is not without reason that it is said that sports are health! Physical activity is also a great pleasure! Remember that you don't have to torture yourself with workouts that do not bring you joy. Choose a sport that will uplift and relax you, as this will increase your emotional stability, unload negative emotions, and improve your mood and well-being. It is a fact that physically active people are less prone to mood swings or even depression.

Take a deep breath

Take advantage of activities in the fresh air. Instead of a home workout on the mat, go for a quick walk or jog. Being outdoors and in contact with nature has a huge significance for mental health. Above all, it has a beneficial effect on stress. Just don't forget about social distancing! ;)

Time for a beauty nap!

Now it's time for something we all love, sleep! It's no secret that healthy sleep is essential for maintaining well-being, immunity, and mental balance. Exercise guarantees fatigue, which means faster and deeper sleep, leading to regeneration. We are well-rested, happier, full of optimism, and ready for another day of crazy challenges! The right amount of sleep is also the most effective beauty treatment in the world. It positively affects blood flow in the skin, which in turn improves its complexion. You look healthy and feel beautiful, win-win!

Do something for yourself

If the grayness outside your window overwhelms you and you need to experience autumn pleasures, we recommend approaching your workouts as a ritual. Relax, put on your favorite, comfortable sports outfit, spread out a yoga mat or exercise mat, light your favorite scented candles, play some mood music, arrange this time however you like, and spend it actively. Afterward, take a long shower or a hot bath. Believe me, there is nothing more enjoyable than dedicating time and attention to your body and mind.
